Online foundation of companies in Estonia is now possible through the Estonian Company Registration Portal by holders of Portuguese, Lithuanian, Belgian and Finnish ID cards. The Estonian ID-card holders have enjoyed the possibility to incorporate new companies online since 2007. This is probably the first time anywhere in the world where one country’s public registry is officially accepting the national ID cards of other countries, including the digital signatures issued with them, which means that a person from Belgium or Portugal can now establish a company in Estonia through the Company Registration Portal using internet access. The website of the respective Belgian portal is http://www.certipost.be, while for Portuguese is http://www.portaldaempresa.pt and the website to be used in Finland is http://www.fineid.fi/.
